OST costumes shipped out from Hendon supplier Angels

Post  Mojo Turbo on Thu Apr 21, 2011 10:30 am

COSTUMES for a much-anticipated Hollywood film have been made by tailors based in a historic Hendon supplier.

The designs for the fourth instalment of the popular Pirates of the Caribbean series were made at Angels, in Garrick Road, and have been shipped out to the sets as filming gets underway.

The UK's longest-established costume supplier has provided outfits for the previous three films, and were asked again to be involved in the latest production, On Stranger Tides, which will star Johnny Depp in the role of captain Jack Sparrow.

^ I can't open that link.

The site I saw had the same OST skull with flames on each side slowly burning towards the skull engulfing it, then the trailer comes on, and after the trailer the site opens to the image of jack firing his pistols and you can navigate from there.
Anybody know what I'm talking about???

I went onto the site on an android phone. You can't navigate thru the site well but when I swiped the compass below Jack, they came up. When I tried to click on them nothing happened, I think it's because I was on a mobile. Let me switch phones and see if I can locate them again.

Edit: okay...After the trailer, Jack appears and a small window opens to the bottom right of Jack dislaying how many badges collected, and when you click on Jack it navigates away...But that's all I can do on the phone because the site freezes up and I can't go anywhere else while on the mobile. Sad

It must be earned with your cookies. The site registers what pages you have viewed and what links you have clicked and you can earn up to 24 badges by exploring the site. And then you can earn rewards like wallpapers etc...

..... yea true. That Volvo thing was awesome. Remember their "driver" mini movies?

The badges are in "stages" the first one "Become a pirate" only has 8 badges. The rest will come out later. Every time you earn a new badge the compass at the bottom of the page "ignites" in flames.

OST Fun Facts

Post  Mojo Turbo on Mon Apr 25, 2011 10:35 am

“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” is directed by Rob Marshall of “Chicago” and “Memoirs of a Geisha” fame.

It's the first film in the “Pirates” franchise to be shot in Disney Digital 3D, and the first all live-action, epic outdoor adventure shot on Red 3D cameras.

New characters add to the fun of the all-new story: Blackbeard (Ian McShane), the ultimate pirate villain; Angelica (Penélope Cruz), a con-artist from Jack Sparrow’s past; Syrena (Astrid Bergès-Frisbey), the mystical mermaid; and Philip (Sam Claflin), the young mysterious missionary.

For the fourth time, Geoffrey Rush reprises his role as Captain Barbossa. Until the last film in the series, “At World’s End,” Barbossa’s first name, Hector, was never uttered by any of the characters.

Although she spent more than two months in Hawaii, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey was not permitted to have fun in the sun on her days off…as the unearthly mermaid known as Syrena, she had to maintain her pale complexion.

Keith Richards returns in a cameo as Captain Teague, Jack Sparrow’s father.

Australian Gemma Ward, who plays Tamara, one of the eight mermaids, began modeling at age 14 and has already graced over 20 Vogue covers.

The fully functional Queen Anne’s Revenge is the first historical ship to be represented in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” film franchise.

World-class competitive surfer Tamayo Perry was one of six Hawaiian “Queen Anne’s Revenge” crewmen cast by director Rob Marshall.

The film represents production designer John Myhre’s fifth collaboration with director Rob Marshall. Myhre was honored with Academy Awards for Best Achievement in Art Direction for both “Chicago” and “Memoirs of a Geisha.”

Appropriately enough for a pirate movie, the film was shot on five different islands: Kauai, Oahu, Puerto Rico, Palominito (a small island off the island’s east coast), and although of a distinctly non-tropical nature, Great Britain.

It's the biggest movie to ever film at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, shooting more of the complex than any previous production.

While filming in the thick coconut grove at the famed and now shuttered Coco Palms Hotel in Wailua—where Elvis once sang “Blue Hawaii” for the movie of that title—773 coconut palms were harvested to prevent the heavy fruits from falling on the hapless heads of cast and crew. The harvested coconuts were taken away by local residents to take full advantage of the meat and milk of the tropical fruits.

Re: On Stranger Tides Discussion

Post  Cap.cristianSparrow on Wed Apr 27, 2011 1:53 am

Johnny Depp said he agreed to star in this, before "there was a script or anything".

i put this on SPOILER cos there is amention of this at the end of the movie.. click under your risk.,savvy?
Spoiler:
Penélope Cruz was pregnant throughout production, but it wasn't noticeable until September, 2010. As Penélope's baby bump grew, it caused some difficulties in wardrobe, so the producers enlisted the help of Cruz's younger sister, Mónica Cruz. According to reports, Penélope filmed the close-up shots, while Mónica doubled for her in the long-distance scenes as the wardrobe department had struggled to hide the pregnancy.

When making 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl', the scriptwriters revealed that they placed the story in a thirty-year environment set loosely between 1720 and 1750. They also said that they did not intend the films to be entirely historically accurate. However, it was revealed that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides takes place in 1750.

Barbossa is a privateer for King George II who ruled from 1727-1760. However Blackbeard who is also in this film died in 1718.

Johnny Depp bought new water proof jackets for 500 crew members on the set to protect them for the cold weather. He spent a total of $64,200 from his own pocket.

As amazing as that is, I'm not surprised Johnny did that. He's got a good track record of paying for things during productions out of his own pocket for the film's support teams/fans.

What version of OST will you be seeing for your first viewing and when?

Post  Jinkxed Jack on Tue May 03, 2011 1:59 pm

How and when are you seeing OST for the first time?

I'm leaning towards the IMAX 3D for my first viewing. Hopefully on opening night. No midnight showing for me, gotta work the next day. Unless I decide to call in sick. lol

I want to go IMAX because it's bigger and there's a laser show before it... but I feel like it's a waste of money since unless it's filmed in IMAX ( which it wasn't ) it only takes up as much as a regular screen...you're just sitting closer. I also feel like IMAX 3D is subpar to REALD. AND our local theatre, I'm sure, is expecting us to show up in costume like we have to the past ones. They always get so excited to see us and give us free vouchers for taking pictures with randoms. Laughing So regular 3D it is!! ... and despite everything that I said prior, I will probably see it in IMAX in the following weeks... >_>

Unfortunately I will be seeing it in IMAX 3D first. I say unfortunately because I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE 3D movies. What, too blunt? Razz

Problem is, the theater where I've already arranged a big meetup is ONLY showing it in IMAX 3D on opening night. At any rate, I'll probably see it a couple more times in theaters at lest, and that will definitely NOT be in 3D.

I don't get why people hate 3D so much!!! Unless it hurts your eyes because of medical reasons. IT'S FUN! It makes it different and exciting! And from what I've seen in the trailers, the camera work has a perfect balance to give it a bit of gimmicky fun in 3D but still look appropriate and fantastic in 2D as well.

At least, like I said, I find that 3D in IMAX is weak... so... maybe it won't irritate you as much? Laughing
