Thanks. I was persistent when I needed a pistol and I checked eBay twice sometimes three times a day for about two weeks until I found this sucker for 9 USD shipped.

What I changed...
I took it completely apart, removed the orange safety tip and all electronics and painted anything visible inside the "barrel".
I then sanded the disney trademark info off the plate and used an exacto knife to carve in "Perry".
I then taped it off sprayed it metallic and after it dried added black accents to create an aged appearance and bring out the Perry carving.
I then taped it off once again and painted it flat black.
Using a dremel I cut out the fake flint stone and replaced it with a piece of leather from my palm glove scraps and melted a chuck of black plastic to create a flint stone.
Put it back together, filled the holes with glue.

It's nowhere near perfect but it holds up to closer scrutiny then it previously did and that was my goal.

There was a link on here somewhere to a China knockoff version of the Zizzle pistol that seemed to be nearly identical to the actual Zizzle pistols.

Your mod looks really good though, well done!

You said, that you took the pistol completely apart. What about the carved ornament on the left side? I think this part isn't easy to paint and very difficult to be taped...?

How did you fill the small holes for the loudspeaker under the barrel?

Was the orange tip easy to remove or did you use a dremel here, too?
And cutting out the "flintstone" with a dremel has an awesome result; but I think this part is very complicated, too?!

Sorry, a lot of questions, but I'm considering to do this conversion, too. But actually I'm still a bit anxious with this project...

When I painted mine, for the detailing on the opposite side to the flintlock, I used metallic spray paint (car paint) but I sprayed into the lid and used a cotton bud to slowly add the paint to the raised detail. Worked a treat!

So this part isn't removable or easy to disassemble?

We'll can't say for the zizzle but on the cheapo one it's a molded part of the main pistol. Cannot be removed! Mad

Dont be sorry. If a few questions bugged me I wouldnt have shared :-).
Yeah had to dremel the orange tip a bit to loosen it. Filled all the holes with 2 part apoxy glue and as for the design its molded on the zizzle as well. I spent about an hour and a half intricately taping it off exposing only the portions that were to look metal after that I hand painted 3 coats of flat black in all the extra areas in between. If youre thinking... "wow that sounds like a pain in the booty"... youre right. Dremeling out the fake flintstone was really easy! I used the cone shaped sanding bit and had that done in 15mins.

FYI : The knock off has the screws on the opposite side if compared to the zizzle, one of which is located in the top of the trim piece. The knock off also is made up of a thinner softer plastic and is actually a bit more squared off in the shape of the barrel and sides and is just a tad larger because it was recasted from the zizzle. The knock offs usually does not have electronics even though it does have speaker holes.

Ok mates, I ordered the cheap knockoff and hope, that it will arrive within the next days. Ordered acrylic paint (black matte, brown matte, iron-silver), too.

I hope, that disassembling the gun and removing that orange tip will not be too complicated...

Sanding and paint-job will be alright, I think....

To add the weathered look on the silver parts, I think I have to dilute the paint with a bit of water and simply moisten/sprinkle the solution over the scratches and rub away the rest...???

I painted an undiluted stroke of flat black over any silver and then wiped it with a damp paper towel until I got the desired look.

Aaah... ok ... that´ll work, too.

I hope that the buttcap, barrel tip and trigger etc will disassemble without breaking the thin plastic ...

Yeah I can't speak of the knockoff one but the Zizzle was pretty easy to disassemble and really the only part you have to pay attention and be careful with is the spring assembly for the trigger... that is if you want it to continue to have the trigger/hammer action... mine still does.
