Pirata Codex

"As set forth by Morgan and Bartholomew." Hey guys, I've been thinking about creating a replica of the Pirate's Code, but i can't seem to actually find the pages inside of it. I really want to make an actual prop with everything that was written in the book, which brings me to my next question. Was there anything actually in the original prop? I've done other prop making in the past, for example the diary from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and there was basically an entire story written in it. What would you guys recommend me doing? I am not worried in the slightest about the exterior of the prop, I just need what was actually written in it. Do you guys know where i can get the guts of the book, or at least what was written, something like a PDF would be more than adequate. If you guys have any advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

From what I remember from the DVD special features there was only one page made (shown above)

Here is an RPF member who made it: http://www.therpf.com/f9/potc-pirata-codex-pirates-code-138246/

Another Indiana Jones costumer SAREDNAB made his: http://www.sarednabworldprops.com/eng/sparrow_eng.php

That should be enough to get you started.

Whoa, hang on a minute!

While I agree the prop presented is most interesting, they do seem to be missing certain key points hidden in the Codex. Some coming from the DVD feature on the Codex, while the other bit of information I gathered from an interview I had with Jim Byrkit 2 years ago:
4. During the film production of At World's End, you were able to make the Pirata Codex, the large book that contained the Code. What inspired the making of the book and its contents?

Byrkit: Kris Peck, the prop Master, called and said that he wanted to give Gore and Jerry Bruckheimer an awesome working Codex. So could I help fill the pages with the kinds of things pirates would include? Recipes for rum drinks, dirty poems, pirate gossip, records of sale, codes and secret symbols, and the “guidelines” they are always talking about. We had to work quick so most of it was just right out of my head. Kris really worked to make that book amazing and it was a blast helping out on that.

I do recommend two other links:
1. POTC Visual Guide at Amazon - may work, may not work. Not sure how you'd feel when I say you might have to look through the Amazon preview. There's 2 pages covering the "Pirata Codex", but it's kinda hard to say if it actually shows content or if it's just for show. They do have a good look at the Codex, though, I think.
2. Pirata Codex/Gallery at POTC Wiki - All the images we have on the Codex so far. Might not have it all, but we don't have just one or two pics. And need I mention that we took certain caps from the Codex DVD feature - the best one of the bunch that isn't already onscreen is the "rum recipe" Byrkit spoke of and a map to the rum locker.
Hope all this helps! Very Happy

ETA:
Just remembered that the DVD feature of the Code is on YouTube.
So there should be a bit more pieces of the puzzle. For instance, there's a "Rosie's Tavern" in Singapore.

You can do amazing things when you have access to the real prop!
